Personal data relating to members of the Company is stored within a secure electronic database. The only data held is that data which has been provided by individuals as part of the membership application or renewal process.

 

The legitimate interest for collecting and using personal data is to enable the Company to facilitate an individual’s membership of the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society Limited (ELRPS Ltd). The data is necessary to ensure that members can receive all relevant documentation such as magazines, membership cards and where applicable membership renewal reminders.

 

Where a Member of the ELRPS Ltd is also a ‘Working Member’ of the East Lancashire Light Railway Company Limited (ELLR Co Ltd), the ELRPS Ltd shall share such information as is necessary for an individual to undertake their duties with the ELLR Co Ltd.

 

A member’s personal data will be retained for the period of membership of the ELRPS Ltd and for up to 12 months after such membership lapses unless a lapsed member requests that their personal data is deleted upon termination of membership.

 

Members wishing to change the information held about them within the database may do so by writing to the ELRPS Ltd, PO Box 744, Bury, Lancashire. BL8 9XL or email membership@elrpsltd.org.uk

 

The data held in respect of individual members will not be shared with other organisations. The Company shall provide information in the event of being required so to do in writing by a legitimate Government Agency acting in a lawful capacity.

 

In the event that an individual has a complaint in respect of how the ELRPS Ltd has managed their data they should contact the Information Commissioners Office Telephone 0303 123 1113.
