Electrical Department

The Electrical and Telecomm Department, as it was first called, was started by Phil Southern probably in the late eighties/early nineties. It is based in our small workshop underneath the stairs on platform two in Bury Bolton Street Station.

We are now just 'the Electrical Department', as the Telecomm section became part of the Signal and Telegraph Department.

We meet every Sunday and our work is varied. Consisting of maintenance work, refurbishing station platform lights, changing and repairing faulty light fittings, repairing electrical  items, machines, electrical tools, mains leads etc. PAT testing.

We modified and look after many of the station clocks to work electronically.

We welcome anyone with an interest in things electrical, electronic, railway, that can contribute to our skills. You will  be working with other electrical volunteers in a happy and jovial atmosphere.

You must enjoy tea or coffee and have a fondness for cakes of all description.

For more information on becoming a working member, please contact the Volunteer Liaison Team on 07585 198455 or at volunteers@elrpsltd.org.uk.
