Originally founded in 1968 the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society was the catalyst for forming East Lancashire Railway.
The East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society has been awarded full Charity status by the Charities Commission.
Gallery of photographs showing the people, places and equipment of the railway in operation.
There is a full list of events planned for visitors, families and enthusiasts throughout the year.
Can you spare some time for volunteering? Many passengers may not realise how important volunteers are to run the railway.
By becoming a member of the ELRPS you are helping to preserve a piece of history that would have been lost for ever.
The Society is committed to supporting the railway by funding preservation, education, accessibility and heritage projects.
By choosing to support the railway financially you will be making a real difference to the future of this wonderful heritage asset.
Follow the Society Chairman, Chris Moore, as he shares his musings about things around the railway and the society!
